. The charged aerosol detector (CAD, Charged Aerosol Detector) has become one of the highly universal detection methods in liquid chromatography because of its broad response to nonvolatile compounds, excellent quantitative performance, and low dependence on target molecular structure.

In recent years, as the China-based development and manufacturing of high-end analytical instruments has accelerated, the charged aerosol detector independently developed by Instrumax has continued to achieve technical breakthroughs in key performance areas such as sensitivity, stability, and consistency, gradually enabling substitution for comparable imported products. Hydrocortisone, a typical steroid drug, contains no strong UV-absorbing group, so its detection in complex matrices presents certain challenges.

Because it has a stable structure, moderate solubility, and wide use in quality control of clinical drugs and active pharmaceutical ingredients, hydrocortisone is an ideal model compound for evaluating CAD detection performance. This report uses hydrocortisone as the representative sample and conducts a systematic performance evaluation based on Instrumax CAD, covering method establishment, concentration-response relationship, repeatability, baseline noise level, and minimum detectable amount. The aim is to verify the applicability and stability of the instrument in steroid-compound analysis and provide technical support for drug R&D, quality control, regulatory analysis, drug analysis, food safety, and related applications.
